Kurikkatalo
Kurikka, Finland, 2024
The 5,100 m2 competition proposal for the new Kurikka town hall combines social, cultural, environmental and life-cycle sustainability, providing accessible and high-quality spaces for all users. The architecture respects local cultural environment and agricultural traditions. Technical solutions ensure longevity and energy efficiency, for example, heat-retaining solid brick exterior walls that improve indoor air conditions in different seasons. The column-beam-slab frame system enables flexible and sustainable spatial solutions. Deep eaves protect the building from weather conditions and summer heat, reducing the need for maintenance and cooling solutions. The town hall, made of durable and low-carbon materials, is designed to serve the people of Kurikka for generations.
